An esteemed Supply Chain Management Professional. Marcus is a Professor at the school of Public and Operations Management, University of South Africa (Unisa). He is the Chairperson of the Tender Committee (Other Projects) at Unisa; Member of the Steering Committee for the creation of Supply Chain Management Council in South Africa; Advisory Committee Member for Smart Procurement World; Chairperson of the Supply Chain Management Research Group (Unisa); Chairperson of Masters and Doctoral (M&D) Research Colloquium committee as well as Masters & Doctoral Coordinator for Supply Chain Management at Department of Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain, Transport, Tourism & Logistics Management (DESTTL). Prof Marcus Ambe served as the Acting Chair of Department for DESTTL in 2016.
Between 2008 – 2017, Marcus supervised and graduated numerous Master’s and Doctoral students. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed articles in accredited journals, over 30 conference papers in local and international conferences, delivered over 15 papers as invited speaker, authored and co-authored numerous books and book chapters. Marcus has been commended for his excellence in research such as in 2011, the Executive Dean’s Award for contributing to the College of Economics and Management Sciences (CEMS) publications, in 2012, Researcher of the Year Award for the School of Management Sciences (Unisa); in 2012, Developing Researcher Producing the Most Output Point for CEMS in 2011 (Unisa). In 2015, the Principal’s Award for Research Excellence (Unisa). In 2015, he also received the award for the Associate Professor producing the most research output points (2010-2014).

He is also a peer reviewer for many journals and an editorial team member for the Journal of Transport and supply chain management since 2009 and a board member for the Amity Journal of Supply Chain Management. He is also a member of the public sector qualifications committee (PSQC) for supply chain management at the National Treasury, South Africa. He served as the co-chair papers for the Prestigious International Purchasing and Supply, Education and Research Association (IPSERA) 2014 annual conference hosted by Unisa, South Africa.
